Hello everyone.
I wanted to bring something to your attention. People have been feeding multiple drawings of mine into an AI dataset to train it. I did not consent to this. The above image is just one example of a drawing of mine being used. Not only did they scrape the newer moonstalker image, but an older version from my DeviantArt.
Also, my "Whistling unicorns" and the "Chibi Totoro" fanart I did have been scraped a lot.
I've had to make an account on haveibeentrained.com and manually opt out each of the images. The thing is, this is a public dataset, a lot of datasets are kept private so more of my work has probably been stolen.
I don't think I need to explain this considering that Newgrounds doesn't allow AI art in the art portal, but AI art is extremely unethical because it uses the work of living artists without their consent to generate images. All artists should be opted-out automatically with an option to opt-in if they want to. Somebody owns the software and they are making a ton of money off the backs of artists' hard work. Currently on DeviantArt and ArtStation, the front pages are flooded with AI slop and this has triggered a mass rebellion from the art community which I am now a part of.
If anyone tries to argue with me in the comments of this post about how "AI art is great actually," they'll be immediately blocked. I'm tired of arguing with these people.
Real talk - this has already been an extremely tough year to deal with, in fact I'd actually call this the worst year of my life so far. Being autistic means that freelance art is the only job I can do well, I cannot work most conventional jobs due to sensory processing issues. But on top of that, I've lost family members, pets, had to deal with multiple health emergencies in the family and there's also the cost of living crisis ravaging the UK. And of course, Twitter being ruined by a spoilt manchild, (Twitter of course being one of my main lifelines as this is where the autistic community can freely share help and info with each other).
I'm not here to complain about myself though, I just wish these people knew that artists are human beings who are struggling. We're not pretentious gatekeepers and snowflakes they make us out to be, our community is very generous and welcoming and we try to encourage everyone to be creative.
Anyway, that's the end of my little rant. I am sorry for being so negative in this post but I'm really reaching the end of my tether with all of this. I can't wait for this year to finally end.
If you like my work and want to support me - a human artist - I am currently open for commissions and commission info can be found here:
